As a matter of fact, the strictest dress code exists on the Northern edge of the Earth – in Chukotka. Denis Simachev is using the image of new heroes from the North in his latest men’s collection. They are brave dandies at heart though the climate of their motherland dictates its own style.

In order to escape from the cold they put on whatever they see in their wardrobes (no matter what size it is): oversized sweaters are put on over jackets, coats with wolf and fox fur sweep the floor and “Alaska” jackets have obviously been taken from somebody else’s shoulders.
They have to follow the strictest dress code – Chukotkian. That is why they sew knitted cuffs on single-breasted jackets and trousers. Their old clothes have holes in them, hand-knitted sweaters shrink after being hot washed, many elements are simply collected from parts of the old fabrics.
New heroes of the North are more likely to lose their lives than their “Alaska” coats – with fur hoods and buttons made of artificial fangs. They do not throw away their old coats and carefully rip them up to use the pieces in an original way. The hood thus becomes an independent piece of headwear and the blue pockets from the coats appear on the shirts’ sleeves.
Jeans with “Khohloma” printed patterns, trousers with stripes on the inner sides, red sports suits, pink jackets and T-shirts printed with golden chains may look exotic, but when you want to get warm you’ll put anything on. They may dress in English coats, coloured leather trousers, coats made from classic cardigans, and look like real dandies, but the freezing wind and snow don’t really care about them.

Accessories and shoes:
High fur felt boots, black leather boots, giant hats with earflaps, fur kissers.

Colours:
Red tongues of fire, black charcoals, dirty green moss, white and blue arctic desert.

Fabrics:
Wolf and fox fur, raincoat fabric, knitted jersey, thick wool, felt cloth, cotton, denim.
